Rachel, Michael and Lucy
We presume you’re at this site because you know at least one of us. However, you might not know us both, and you might not know us well. So, here’s a bit of information about Mike and Rachel (and of course, how we met), and our dog Lucy:
The Couple
I was born in Sanford, NC, but grew up near Charlotte. I started at NC State in 2004 and have lived in Raleigh ever since, except two semesters in Richmond, VA working an internship that prompted my changing majors from Engineering to something I actually enjoy: Political Science. I will finally be getting my degree in May, after being in school far too long. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a huge nerd… I have a fantastic job at Apple as a trainer and someday I will have an even more fantastic job running my own indie software company. I’ve got the best fiancée a guy could ask for and the cutest dog in the world; it doesn’t get better than that!

I was born in Texas, then moved all over the country. If you’d like more details about the 18 years leading up to my moving to Raleigh, feel free to hit up my parents at the wedding, who will tell you stories about Ritz crackers and Mastercards (master the possibilities). Anyway, I moved to Raleigh in 2002 to go to NC State. After graduating, I went to work for Kohl’s, who briefly tricked me into moving to Fayetteville. I eventually begged my way back to Raleigh, where I quickly quit my job. I now have a job I love, at a company I love, with a fiancé I love, and the best dog ever!

The Dog
Lucy is our dog, and while she has absolutely nothing to do with our wedding, she really deserves her own little piece of the internet.
Lucy is a one year old beagle/yellow lab mix. We ended up adopting her quite unexpectedly, but she is by far the cutest dog ever (ok, she is tied with a few other dogs I know)! She has white paws (like a permanent french manicure) and a tail that rarely stops wagging. Her favorite toys are sticks, ropes, tennis balls, and anything she can destroy in under 5 minutes (which includes most other toys). Her favorite activities are sleeping in the sunshine, playing keep-away with Mike, going on walks at the lake with Rachel, jumping into the recliner anytime someone stands up, and cuddling with anyone who will let her. She knows lots of words including stick, toy, outside and hungry (and will immediately freeze and stare at you if she hears you say any of them - even if you said them in the middle of a sentence and are not talking to her.)
Here are a few pictures to make you say “Awwww!”

Our Story
Mike was in the theatre program at NC State. Rachel sold tickets for the theatre box office. It was only a matter of time!
In August of 2005, Rachel finally worked up the nerve to audition for a play (Grease!), a show for which Mike auditioned as well. We met at a dance workshop to prepare for the audition, and ended up playing cards afterwards with a few friends. After a few weeks of flirting (and a lengthy fight over a Jeopardy pen - which we still have) we started dating. Despite a life schedule that didn’t quite agree (Mike moved to Richmond for a year, and Rachel moved to Fayetteville as soon as he moved back to Raleigh), we stayed together.
After more than 3 years together, Mike proposed to Rachel while on a date at Carrabba’s. And the best part is, we totally got a free meal at Carrabba’s! Oh wait… I mean… the best part is, now we’re getting ready to spend the rest of our lives together!
Rachel is very excited about planning the wedding, and really looking forward to making all the little decisions and trying to make it the perfect wedding. Mike is excited about cake tastings.
